Questions...when it comes to God, we've all got them! But do you have a place where you feel safe to ask them? A place where you won't feel ignorant, belittled, judged? Or be told "You just don't have enough faith"? In Young Life, we try our best to create an environment where it's safe to ask those questions we've been pondering for a while but have been too afraid to say out loud. At one of our recent campaigner meetings, we asked our high school friends to write down their questions about God. Here's a few of the things they came up with:
Does evolution contradict the Bible?
Explain lust and why it's so bad? Aren't we meant to have feelings?
Why have the law if it just gives way to sin?
Does everything happen for a reason?
Does God make bad things happen?
If God knows everything, do we really have free will?
What an amazing conversation we had!!! Left unspoken, these things can be detrimental to our faith. But when faced head-on, opportunity is created for spiritual growth and understanding. Let us not be left alone in our doubting, but create space where our questions can be heard and unpacked!
