What a amazing time we had at Castaway Club this year!!! Fifty of our high school friends spent a week at Young Life Camp on Pelican Lake in Minnesota. But what made it so great? Was it the zip line, parasailing, tubing, banana boats, the food? Of course all these things were great, but the most amazing part of camp was when thirty-one of our friends stood up and professed Jesus as their Lord and Savior!
You see, that's what Young Life camp is all about! Introducing adolescents to the person of Jesus. Amidst all the fun and adventure, we share the good news of Jesus. We were created by God, in His image, to be in a perfect relationship with Him. But sin has created a barrier between us and God, and no matter how hard we try, we cannot remove that barrier on our own. Nonetheless, God loves us enough that He sent Jesus to willing die on the cross for us, to take our place, and offer us an opportunity for restoration. The entire week is about intentionally creating conversation around this truth, whether in cabin time or one-on-ones. And the result was amazing!! We watched as God changed hearts as we slowed down to truly process His love for us. No doubt, God has moved in big ways and will continue to as we walk alongside them here at home!
Check out this letter that one of our high school friends wrote to God during an all camp 20 minutes of silence!
